THAT is what I want to know!
my husband plays guitar and drums sometimes if need be but his REAL love is the song writing. He has many many songs he's written over the years, both secular and christian. Maybe i'm predjudiced but I believe he truly has a gift.
He's recorded a couple of cd's with the help of a techie friend and the sound equiptment at church, and the sound quality is very good. He's incorporated several of his songs into what we usually do with the praise/worship team at church. But has never known which direction to go to get "outside" our own church.
This is the only thing he has ever REALLY desired to do but i can sense that once again he is getting frustrated about the fact that he doesn't feel like he's doing what he's supposed to be doing with this music.
ANY ideas at all?

There is a lot of information on the Internet regarding songwriting and how to promote your music. There are legitimate songwriting contests (www.jlsc.com) that will put your music in front of business executives. There are organizations for independent artists also.
Regardless of the genre of music (christian vs non christian)... don't forget it is a business and you must proceed with a 'business' mind about it. Do not assume that 'christian' publishing houses or 'christian' recording companies are 'led by God' or by christians.. It is a business and business will be the source behind their decisions. Regardless of what we would like to believe, they are in the business to make money and NOT to evangelize or to 'proclaim the gospel'...
That doesn't mean they are wrong; afterall, workers are due their pay.. but you must go into it with the same mind set.. You are - in short - selling your songs and like anything, in order to NOT get ripped off or to lose - you have to know the market..
good luck and even if you don't make it (so to speak).. get your music out to the public in anyway you can. The more that hear it, the more likely the right person will hear it and even if you don't get a 'deal'.. if your music has the gospel message in it, then that is what counts for the 'hearers', right?
