My husband and I are interested in enlarging our music ministry. We have sang at our church. My husband is a guitar player and singer and I am a singer. We have been guests at another church's revival and we have sang at a funeral and a couple of weddings. I wonder how one can legally take someones song and create our own arrangement and use it in ministry. How do we get permission and is it expensive? Any advice would be helpful.

Mechanical Royalty. Ballpark of 10 cents per song per unit sold. A lot of songs are carried by the Harry Fox agency in New York. You can also check with ASCAP or BMI depending which one you belong to.
