Hello,

This is Bartholomew, the lead singer/guitarist from the Christian progressive art rock band DIVINE IN SIGHT. I have just signed on to this forum in hopes of making more Christian music networking links for our group.

I performed a cursory search of this forum and its archives, and our band name came up with zero posts, so it's safe to assume most of you out there have never heard of us. We are based in the upper Midwest/Great Lakes region of the US and we are a progressive rock power trio–guitar/vox (me), bass/keys, and drums. We have been unable to preform live gigs due to persisting drummer problems over the last several years, but we have recently auditioned a great guy from Seattle who may be the fit we're looking for. By next year we intend to be performing regularly throughout the Great Lakes region, largely at colleges at the behest of on-campus Christian fellowship groups.

Our music is a blend of what we consider the best elements of 70's progressive rock--Pink Floyd, Yes, Rush, Genesis, and Queen--with a solidly evangelical Christian worldview and overt ministry intentions for our music. Anyone here can download samples from our website if they are curious.

Our first CD, Sorrow & Promise, has been favorably reviewed by critics in the SECULAR prog field, most notably by the Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Rock and ProgressiveWorld.net. We have credibility as a truly progressive band from sources generally hostile to Christian acts. We have made less of a splash in the Christian music world, however, which can be quite confusing seeing that a) our lyrics are transparently evangelical, and b) our musicality is not in question thanks to the relatively strong endorsements from the secular prog world.

Like most business ventures, marketing is probably 90%+ of the problem, as well as the fact that we've not been able to perform live for quite some time now. We have learned that a well crafted and critically acclaimed debut album, and about $3 in change, will buy you a nice cup of Starbucks coffee. Proper marketing and live concert support for our CD would probably make a huge difference, a situation we hope to rectify in the not-too-distant future.

I have a few questions for anyone inclined to respond:

1) Are their any big regional or national Christian music showcases for bands seeking bookings?

2) How hard is it to get into a small stage @ Cornerstone? Anyone here have any direct experience with that?

3) What determines whether or not YOU PERSONALLY would attend a Christian concert in your area?

Thanks for indulging me on my inaugural post,
Bartholomew

I'm not sure about Q's 1 and 2, but things that factor into whether or not, I go to a Christian concert is usually price of tickets and also style of music.
